Defenders (as) the CDIR-Health exchange experiences during National Assembly 2023

Representatives of the 31 municipalities of the 5 departments of Guatemala where the CDIR-Health has a presence, and some guests shared their experiences during the National Assembly of the Network of Advocates and Community Defenders for the Right to Health (CDIR (Health) carried out in Cobán, Alta Verapaz, from 5 to 8 December 2023.

The defenders and the CDIR-Health reviewed the achievements around the right to health in 2023.

During the meeting, the defenders and the CDIR Health-exchanged forms of knowledge and different strategies that have been developed in the municipalities of Totonicapán, Sololá, Alta Verapaz, Quiché and Huehuetenango, where they have a presence.

Municipal networks and departmental shared the achievements, strengths and weaknesses; in addition, they developed a work plan for the 2024, with the aim of further contributing to the defence, promotion and training of the right to health, participation and citizen oversight.

The CDIR-Health has 105 defenders in 5 departments in the country.

As Defenders, we began a year of work in defence of the right to health of indigenous peoples and communities of Guatemala.
