What are Human Rights?

Are guarantees that we are all human beings, for the simple fact of having been born. Its function is to protect individuals and also groups of people. Human Rights are expressed in the laws of a country.

What the health is a Human Right?

Yes, it is. And it is one of the most important because without health we cannot have a good life. This means that we can not or working, or studying, or we can develop well. Without health, humans are not we can move forward in our lives and be happy.

The Right to Health it also means that all people have the right to have decent living conditions. To be healthy we need things like: housing, safe drinking water, decent salary, services, holistic health, recreation, work, education, food.

What is citizen participation?

Participation is a tool that has the citizenship to intervene directly in the decisions that are made on public policy. Through it we can establish a dialogue with the State and represents an opportunity to get involved in how decisions are made and in the evaluation of the work that is done by the government at national, departmental and municipal. It also allows us to monitor the proper functioning of public institutions.

What is Health Surveillance?

Citizen oversight is the exercise of citizen participation because it allows you to observe the quality with which services are provided. Also, through it, you can check if you give all the services offered and the way in which the workers take care of those. This happens not only in health and it can monitor the teachers, the medical and nursing staff, to the national police or any employee or public official.

The citizen monitoring can be performed by any citizen or citizens on a voluntary basis. His only interest in doing so is to improve the public services they use.

By the middle of the citizen watch is seeking:

  • Build trust among the population of users of health services and personnel services.
  • Provide valid information on the situation of health services, in relation with the staff, medicine, and equipment. This process allows to obtain the opinion of the users and at the same time inform them of what happens in the services and the existing gaps.
  • To be a Deterrent: the monitoring itself can be a deterrent to the public officials who develop inappropriate practices with the users (that abuse, discriminate against or refuse care, among other things) as to be monitored, many people give up their performance.
  • Develop joint plans between authorities and citizens to resolve the problems.
